Romanian PM's adviser takes over as the new labor minister

President Klaus Iohannis signed on Monday, April 18, the decree appointing Dragos Pislaru as the new labor minister in Dacian Ciolos' cabinet. Ana Costea resigned from this position last week, after controversies on the new law on wages in the public sector. She is the first minister who left the technocrat Government that has been in power since November last year. Prime Minister Ciolos proposed his counselor Dragos Pislaru for the position on Monday. The new minister was sworn in in the afternoon. Dacian Ciolos took Dragos Pislaru in his team as an adviser on economic affairs, in early December last year. Before that, he was the general manager of the macroeconomic research company GEA Strategy & Consulting, and assistant professor at the Academy of Economic Studies (ASE) in Bucharest. He graduated from the Faculty of International Economic Relations within ASE. He also holds a Master of Science degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the National Institute of Economic Research within the Romanian Academy.
